Text Case Converter
Switch text between sentence, title, upper, lower, camel, snake and kebab case.
Case conversion looks trivial until you need it done properly. Title case has rules about small words and hyphenated compounds. Camel and snake case have to deal with acronyms, numbers and punctuation. A slug needs to strip accents rather than drop the letter entirely — otherwise café becomes caf.
This converter handles those cases rather than running a blind upper-case call, and it does it to the whole document at once. Useful for reformatting a spreadsheet column, fixing a header, or turning a title into a URL.
How to use it
- Paste or type your text into the box.
- Press the case button you want. The conversion replaces the text in place, so you can chain conversions.
- Use Slug for URLs and filenames: it lower-cases, strips accents, removes punctuation and joins words with hyphens.
- Use camelCase or snake_case for code identifiers — they split on spaces, hyphens and underscores first.
- Press Copy to take the result, or Undo to go back to what you pasted.
Questions
What counts as title case?
The first and last word always capitalised, along with everything except the short joining words a, an, and, as, at, but, by, for, in, nor, of, on, or, the, to, up, v, via, with. Words after a colon are capitalised. That matches the style guides most publishers use.
How does the slug converter handle accents?
It folds them to their base letter using Unicode normalisation, so Glasgow café becomes glasgow-cafe rather than losing the letter. Characters with no sensible Latin equivalent are dropped and the separators are collapsed, so you never get double hyphens.
Does it work on more than one line?
Yes. Multi-line text is converted line by line, which is what you want for a pasted column. Sentence case treats each line as its own sentence, so headings do not bleed into each other.
What is alternating case for?
It flips case on every character, letter by letter. It is mostly used for emphasis in chat rather than anything professional, but it is here because people ask for it.
