Signature Pad
Draw a signature with a mouse, finger or stylus and save it as a transparent PNG.
Mouse, trackpad, finger or stylus — all work.
A wet signature is still what most contracts, tenancy agreements and delivery notes actually want, and a photograph of your signature on paper looks exactly like what it is. This pad gives you a clean, high-resolution PNG with a transparent background, which drops straight onto a PDF or into a Word document without a white box around it.
Draw with a mouse, trackpad, finger or stylus. The canvas samples at device pixel ratio, so the lines stay smooth when the image is placed at print size rather than turning into visible stair-steps. Everything happens in the tab — the signature is never transmitted, which matters for a document that authorises something.
How to use it
- Sign your name in the box. A graphics tablet or stylus gives the steadiest line, but a mouse works fine.
- Adjust Stroke width if you want a finer or heavier pen.
- Change the ink colour if you need something other than black — blue is common for signed originals.
- Choose the export size. 1× is fine on screen; use 2× or 3× for anything that will be printed.
- Press Download PNG. The background stays transparent, so it sits on any document.
- Use Clear to start again — nothing is saved between visits.
Questions
Is a drawn signature legally valid?
In the UK, England and Wales accept an electronic signature for the overwhelming majority of contracts, and the Law Commission confirmed in 2019 that a simple electronic signature is valid where the parties intend to be bound. Some documents still have specific requirements — wills, some land transactions and certain court filings need a wet signature or a witness. If in doubt, ask the other party what they will accept.
Why does the PNG have a transparent background?
So it can be placed directly onto a contract, a letterhead or a PDF page without carrying a white rectangle over your text. The stroke itself is the only thing drawn.
Does the pad work on a phone?
Yes. Touch input is captured, and the canvas prevents the page from scrolling while you draw. A finger gives a thicker, less controlled line than a stylus, so use 2× or 3× export size if you are signing on a phone.
Is my signature uploaded anywhere?
No. Drawing, scaling and PNG encoding all happen in your browser using the canvas element. There is no upload step and no server receiving the image.
