QR Code Generator

Make a QR code for a link, with custom colours and a logo in the middle.

A QR code is just a grid encoding text, but most generators route that text through a server first — worth knowing if what you are encoding is a Wi-Fi password, a payment link or anything else you would not paste into a random site. This one builds the code with a QR encoder written directly into the page, following the same ISO/IEC 18004 standard every scanner expects, so nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Colours, size, the quiet zone (the blank border scanners need to lock on) and an optional centre logo are all adjustable, and the preview updates as you type. Adding a logo automatically raises the error-correction level, because the code needs enough redundancy to still scan with part of it covered.

How to use it

  1. Type the link or text you want to encode. It updates live as you type.
  2. Pick an error-correction level — higher levels make a denser, more resilient code; use H if you are adding a logo.
  3. Set the foreground and background colours. Keep strong contrast between them or scanners will struggle.
  4. Add a logo if you want one — it sits in the centre with a small clear backing so it does not blend into the modules around it.
  5. Press Download PNG to save the finished code.

Questions

Will a QR code with a logo still scan reliably?

Usually, yes — QR codes carry redundant data specifically so part of the image can be damaged, printed poorly or covered and still decode. This tool automatically raises the error-correction level when a logo is present so there is enough redundancy to spare. Test it with your own phone before printing something at scale, all the same.

Is there a limit to how much text I can encode?

QR codes scale up to version 40 (177 x 177 modules), which holds a few thousand characters at the lowest error-correction level. For a link this is never a concern; for a large block of text you may need to drop the error-correction level to fit.

Does the code expire or depend on this site?

No. A QR code is not a link to sigmatoolhub.com — it is the data itself, encoded directly into the pattern. It will scan and work for as long as the image exists, with no dependency on any server, including this one.
